Summary
Trace the history of the Sears Tower from the initial plans to the company's financial troubles of the 1990s to the tower's current status as a multi-tenant office building and major tourist attraction. In 1969 Chicago-based global retailer Sears, Roebuck, and Co. decided to consolidate its operations under one roof and the only way to accomplish this feat was to create the world's largest corporate headquarters. They called on the services of the architectural firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, who designed what became for many years the world's tallest building using a new form of tubular construction
